Mechanism Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Turin, Italy

Builds spacecraft for humanity, including the Nyx spacecraft, with mechanisms developed, manufactured, tested, and delivered in-house.

What you will do

• Participate in the complete design cycle for flight mechanisms, from conceptualization and trade studies through detailed design, analysis, testing, and delivery.
• Generate component, assembly, and interface designs and drawings; manage change requests for released design products.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA covering structural, kinematic, torque, and force analysis.
• Develop and execute development, qualification, and acceptance test plans and procedures, including data reduction and analysis.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews, prepare technical documentation, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Own certification work and prepare mechanisms for flight certification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience designing mechanisms for the aerospace industry.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CAD software such as Nx (Siemens) for 3D modeling and simulation.
• Knowledge of GD&T, design change release processes, and industry standards and guidelines for space mechanisms.
• Knowledge of space-environment challenges, including vacuum, radiation, and extreme temperatures, and their impact on mechanisms.
• Experience with kinematic, torque, and force calculations, plus systems-engineering thinking.
• Strong oral and written communication, analysis, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills; ability to communicate at all business levels.
