Director, AI Communications Strategy

Location: Rahway, New Jersey, United States; hybrid work arrangement; 25% travel; no relocation; no visa sponsorship.

Salary: $173,200–$272,600 base salary annually, plus potential annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Own the enterprise AI narrative connecting initiatives across Research & Development, Commercial, Manufacturing, IT, Talent and other functions.
• Develop integrated internal and external AI communications strategies aligned with organizational priorities, purpose and reputation.
• Advise senior executives and enterprise leaders on AI positioning, messaging, reputation, stakeholder engagement and external preparation.
• Lead thought-leadership, media, executive speaking, industry forum and other external reputation-building communications.
• Translate the AI narrative into employee communications supporting understanding, adoption, capability building and cultural change.
• Direct content and channel strategies across written, digital, media, social, video, visual and executive communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, business or a related field.
• 8–10 years of progressive communications experience spanning corporate, executive, external and/or employee communications, including enterprise-level communications strategies.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience and/or significant experience leading complex, cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
• Experience developing and leading enterprise narratives connecting multiple businesses, functions or strategic priorities into a cohesive story.
• Experience advising senior executives, influencing decision-making and leading major multi-stakeholder communications programs.
• Experience translating complex AI, technology, data, science or digital-transformation topics into clear, credible narratives.
• Strong fluency with GenAI and experience applying AI and/or agentic technologies to communications activities, workflows or processes.
• Exceptional storytelling, writing and editing skills across executive communications, speeches, media materials, digital content, video scripts and social content.
• Strong business acumen, interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to navigate ambiguity, manage multiple priorities, resources and partners, and bring external trends into enterprise strategy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Experience developing enterprise or corporate narratives in complex, global organizations.
• Experience in employee, executive, change communications, public relations and corporate reputation.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences or another highly regulated industry, particularly within a large global or Fortune 500 organization.
• Experience supporting executive thought leadership, external reputation-building programs or communications agencies.
