Actuarial Summer Intern-2

Location: Remote in the United States; the role is associated with Chattanooga, Tennessee. Work is performed Monday–Friday during 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, for 20–40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Support research to develop assumptions and conduct experience analyses for health insurance products.
• Contribute to work involving risk adjustment, pricing, and valuation.
• Help ensure accurate premiums for health products, appropriate reserve estimates, and complete financial statements.
• Work collaboratively with staff actuaries and analysts.

Requirements

• Be an active college student at an accredited college or university with at least two years completed, a recent college graduate, or a student enrolled in an accredited master's or doctoral program.
• Minimum GPA of 2.75.
• Provide academic transcripts.
• Prioritize effectively, work independently, and manage time and resources.
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Have proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrate appropriate decision-making skills.
• Active full-time BCBST employees are not eligible.

Nice to have

• Major in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, or statistics.
• Residence in the Eastern or Central Time Zone.
• Proactive, self-starting approach.
• Interest in emerging technologies, including AI and automation, and their application to actuarial and business challenges.
