Senior ML Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Pleasanton, California, United States; at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners.

Salary: $192,000–$288,000 annual base pay for the primary location; additional US locations have a $163,000–$288,000 annual base pay range.

What you will do

• Lead the technical design, development, deployment, and scaling of end-to-end machine learning pipelines.
• Build predictive analytics engines, LLM-driven recommendation features, and agentic workflow optimization capabilities.
• Architect low-latency inference and scoring microservices for high-concurrency, multi-tenant environments.
• Build feature stores and retraining pipelines using distributed data and big-data infrastructure.
• Integrate telemetry and tracing to monitor model performance, prompt and response drift, and agent execution efficiency.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineering, SRE, and Legal/Compliance on scalable ML solutions and governance decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of machine learning development experience, including researching, developing, and implementing advanced ML models and techniques, with at least 4+ years building, deploying, and operating production ML systems at scale.
• 5+ years of experience in deep learning, NLP, and GenAI/LLM orchestration.
• Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, LangChain, and LlamaIndex, plus Java, Go, Scala, or C++ for high-performance backend systems.
• Strong ability in distributed processing with Spark, Flink, and Kafka, and high-throughput storage with ClickHouse, Pinecone, or Milvus.
• Knowledge of RAG architectures, LLM fine-tuning, intent classification, recommendation engines, MCP tooling, and structured agentic execution paths.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, vector embeddings, feature stores, and multi-tenant data isolation.
• Experience with model building, foundation model adaptation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, low-latency inference, and the model development lifecycle.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries including NumPy, Pandas, LangChain, LangSmith, and DSPy; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC/REST APIs, CI/CD, 99.9% uptime, and low-latency SLAs.
• Ability to mentor team members, drive technical alignment, draft system design specifications and model cards, and communicate technical and governance decisions. Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field required; Master's or PhD strongly preferred.
