Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States, or San Francisco, California, United States. Employees are expected to work from a hirify.global office 3+ days per week. Relocation to a hirify.global hub may be supported.

Salary: $176,000–$207,000 USD in Denver or $207,000–$244,000 USD in San Francisco.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain production ML models and AI services.
• Use LLM APIs, prompt engineering, structured outputs, function calling, and classical models to balance cost, latency, and quality.
• Build APIs, tests, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and maintainable production software.
• Translate business problems into ML solutions and define API contracts with Product Engineering.
• Build evaluation frameworks, run experiments, and make data-driven decisions about model performance.
• Automate pipelines, build agentic workflows, and contribute reusable skills and context to the agentic platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years building production ML systems.
• Strong Python skills and experience writing clean, testable, well-structured software with solid object-oriented design.
• Production experience with LLM APIs, including prompt engineering, structured outputs, function calling, cost management, and evaluation.
• Experience building and maintaining APIs, working with CI/CD pipelines, and shipping software used by other engineers.
• Ability to work from a hirify.global office 3+ days per week in Denver or San Francisco, or relocate to a hirify.global hub.

Nice to have

• Experience with MLflow, SageMaker, Vertex, or similar MLOps platforms.
• Experience with document processing, OCR, information extraction, PySpark, or large-scale data processing.
• Ruby experience, especially with Rails-based platforms.
• Familiarity with compliance-sensitive domains such as fintech, legal tech, or HR tech.
• Working knowledge of dbt, Snowflake, or modern ELT and data transformation tools.
