Software Development Manager (Embedded Firmware)

Location: Gdańsk, Poland

Salary: Minimum gross base salary of 33,200 PLN per month for full-time work; part-time salary is prorated. hirify.global may offer a higher salary, sign-on payment, and potential restricted stock units.

hirify.global's Ring and Blink Firmware organization in Gdańsk develops firmware platforms and product releases for cameras, doorbells, and sync modules sold worldwide.

What you will do

• Lead approximately 12 firmware engineers delivering embedded software for Ring and Blink cameras and doorbells.
• Own the product release train, including scope, schedules, OTA rollout decisions, rollback calls, and quality metrics such as device offline rate, live-view success, reboots, and battery performance.
• Drive convergence of device firmware onto a common platform and codebase, including the handover of launched products into sustaining.
• Manage the software development life cycle, project execution, Agile/Scrum activities, engineering resources, staffing, and delivery reporting.
• Partner with product, TPM, QA, cloud, hardware, operations, and platform teams in Poland and the US to define and deliver technical designs.
• Lead adoption of coding agents and AI review tooling, establish usage and quality targets, and report progress to leadership.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience leading embedded software or firmware development for connected consumer devices.

Nice to have

• Experience hiring, developing, and promoting engineering talent.
• Experience managing release trains and OTA rollouts for shipped consumer electronics, including sustaining multiple product lines.
• Experience with battery-powered Wi-Fi/BLE camera or video devices and their quality metrics.
• Experience adopting generative AI developer tooling in a team workflow and measuring its impact.
• Experience working with distributed hardware, operations, and QA partners across time zones.
