Senior Manager, Engineering (Observability and Monitoring)

Location: Warsaw, Poland; hybrid model with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. Occasional remote work is available across Poland and internationally for up to 24 domestic and 20 international days per year, subject to internal policy.

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Observability and Monitoring teams, including coaching, regular 1:1s, hiring, onboarding, and building a coherent engineering group across two domains.
• Own delivery of the Observability and Monitoring roadmaps while managing prioritization, capacity, engineering health, quality, security, and operational readiness.
• Partner with Product Managers and the architect to turn product strategy into executable delivery plans and guide technology direction across the OpenTelemetry data plane, alerting, and visualization stack.
• Collaborate with SREs, Operations, SaaS reliability, and product development teams that instrument code and consume observability data.
• Shape the observability, monitoring, and AIOps strategy, including monitoring maturity, SLOs, incident detection and resolution times, automated root-cause analysis, and self-healing.
• Represent technical work and risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders and align priorities with the Senior Director of Engineering.

Requirements

• Previous experience leading engineering teams, ideally in a platform context, with accountability for team outcomes and engagement.
• Background in software or platform engineering with practical understanding of telemetry, including logs, traces, and metrics.
• Understanding of instrumentation standards such as OpenTelemetry, alerting, SLOs, and incident response.
• Curiosity about using AI to accelerate root-cause analysis and operations.
• Ability to understand engineering work, ask the right questions, and identify issues without writing production code.
• Strong ownership and independence, including the ability to make decisions with incomplete information and follow through.
• Ability to communicate in plain, precise English, explain complex platform decisions to non-technical stakeholders, and represent the team in senior forums.
