Senior/Staff Product Engineer (Payments)

Location: London, with required attendance at the Shoreditch office Tuesday to Thursday. Candidates must be based in the specified location; UK work visa sponsorship is not available.

hirify.global provides modular payments infrastructure that helps companies keep raw card data off their systems, reduce PCI compliance work, improve payment acceptance, mitigate fraud and chargebacks, and lower payment costs.

What you will do

• Build core payments infrastructure covering tokenisation, card network integrations, 3DS and dispute management.
• Design developer-facing APIs, SDKs and reusable primitives.
• Build high-throughput distributed systems handling millions of card transactions.
• Work directly with customers to understand payment stacks, debug integrations and shape the roadmap.
• Ship across backend services, APIs, UI components and documentation.
• Set technical direction, mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience, including 2–4+ recent years in at least one of payments infrastructure or fintech, developer tooling, or design-first products.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, networking and infrastructure beyond frameworks.
• Product-minded approach to developer experience and measuring work by its impact on users.
• Ability to explain complex technical decisions to non-technical people and work directly with customers.
• Founder-like ownership and ability to take problems through to completion independently.

Nice to have

• Rust and TypeScript experience; engineering ability is valued more than exact stack alignment.
• Knowledge of card payments, including networks, tokenisation, 3DS or PCI DSS.
