Senior Counsel (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States, including Work at Home - Washington DC and Remote Illinois; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $184,800–$254,100 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Provide legal support for the development and deployment of AI products and systems.
• Analyze AI regulations and standards and advise business leaders on compliance, risk, and consumer protection.
• Collaborate with AI product developers, engineers, data scientists, business teams, and legal teams.
• Draft AI guidance, playbooks, governance materials, and standards for responsible AI use within the Law Department.
• Advise on confidentiality, privilege, accuracy verification, human oversight, outside counsel AI use, and legal service provider contract terms.
• Support e-discovery, records management, vendor diligence, external reviews, and enterprise-wide AI initiatives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction.
• Active good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 7+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house counsel role.
• At least 3 years of experience working with AI/ML, generative AI, and agentic systems.
• Knowledge of federal and state AI regulatory compliance obligations, consumer protection, algorithmic bias and discrimination, antitrust, employment, intellectual property, data, and privacy.
• Ability to identify risks and make practical risk recommendations while balancing business rewards and imperatives.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate effectively, influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, and work independently under time pressure and deadlines.

Nice to have

• Background in technology, legal technology solutions architecture, or consulting, including developing technical processes and solutions for electronically stored information.
• Experience advising on policies, standards, and technical controls for discovery, information governance, and AI.
