Location: On-site in San Jose, with time split between the San Jose office and the SMT line and material storage in nearby Milpitas; occasional travel to contract manufacturer sites. The role involves lifting up to 50 lb, standing for extended periods, and working in an ESD-controlled area.
Salary: $60,000–$90,000 per year, plus equity.
Company
builds frontier AI hardware by co-designing chips, racks, software, and manufacturing systems focused on high-throughput, low-latency inference.
What you will do
- Receive, label, inspect, quantify, store, and issue electrical components, connectors, and boards with full traceability.
- Maintain ESD-safe and moisture-sensitive-device controls, including dry cabinets, bake-outs, and exposure-time tracking.
- Own consigned material records at contract manufacturers, including shipments, consumption, returns, scrap, cycle counts, reconciliations, and variance closure.
- Inspect incoming lots, quarantine non-conforming material, and maintain first-article and inspection records.
- Pull and kit components against released BOMs and revisions for prototype, bring-up, SMT, and CM production; identify shortages, substitutions, and revision mismatches.
- Report inventory status to Procurement, write receiving and transfer SOPs, support ESD/5S/safety programs, and help automate inventory and consumption reporting.
Requirements
- 2+ years handling electronic components in a manufacturing, EMS/CM, or hardware-startup environment.
- Working knowledge of ESD control under ANSI/ESD S20.20 and moisture-sensitivity handling under IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033.
- Ability to read a BOM, PCB assembly drawing, and component datasheet and identify mismatched delivered parts.
- Hands-on experience with an ERP or inventory system such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar for receiving, transfers, and cycle counts.
- Spreadsheet skills including lookups and pivot tables.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers on consigned or customer-furnished material.
- Ability to stay organized under changing prototype-build conditions and communicate processes clearly in writing.
- Interest in automating work with agentic AI models and willingness to learn on the job.
- Ownership mentality and accountability for outcomes.
Nice to have
- IPC-A-610 or IPC-7711/7721 certification, or SMT line experience.
- Experience setting up consignment or vendor-managed inventory programs from scratch.
- Familiarity with counterfeit-avoidance practices such as AS6081/AS5553 and authorized-distributor sourcing.
- Exposure to datacenter hardware, including accelerator cards, server base boards, and high-power or high-speed interconnect components.
- Forklift or pallet-jack certification.
Culture & Benefits
- Fully in-person work in San Jose, with collaboration across disciplines and no strict boundaries between teams.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus a $500 monthly credit for waiving medical benefits.
- $2,500 monthly housing subsidy for employees living within walking distance of the office.
- Relocation support for moves to San Jose, wellness benefits, and daily lunch and dinner at the office.
- Unlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification.
