What you will do

• Build, operate, and scale Ledger Store, a replicated double-entry ledger recording every money movement on the platform.
• Own systems across design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operation.
• Make trade-offs between correctness, latency, throughput, and operational complexity explicit.
• Establish observability and alerting, participate in on-call and incident response, and address root causes.
• Deliver small, traceable changes supported by tests and measured results.
• Mentor colleagues and write design notes, reviews, and operational documentation.

Requirements

• Production experience building and operating a distributed or durable system.
• Ability to reason about concurrency, consistency, idempotency, and failure modes.
• Understanding of how memory management, allocation, copying, and concurrency affect runtime performance, with a measurement-driven approach to bottlenecks.
• Programming depth and ability to learn the tools required by the problem; the role is language agnostic, with Rust experience welcome.
• Experience debugging critical systems and participating in on-call or incident response.
• Ability to evaluate alternatives, explain trade-offs, and communicate complex systems clearly in discussions, design notes, and reviews.
• Thoughtful use of AI-assisted engineering with responsibility for the quality and safety of the result.

• Experience with financial ledgers, payments, core banking, or banking modernisation.
• Low-latency systems, high-throughput workloads, or tail-latency optimisation.
• Deterministic simulation, fuzzing, or property-based testing.
• Multi-cloud, hybrid, or on-premises deployments.
• Capacity planning, deployment safety, and disaster recovery.
