Mechanical Engineer, Atlas Hardware Co-Op (Robotics)

Location: Waltham Office, United States; candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Hourly pay: $30–$35 per hour.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test prototypes and support complex robotic systems in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Plan and perform verification and validation testing on prototype and production systems.
• Design and develop new features for existing products.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause failure analysis, and implement corrective actions for existing products.
• Design and release parts and assemblies using CATIA, and maintain BOMs and detailed part and assembly drawings.
• Support reliability, DFM/DFA, and cost-reduction analyses.

Requirements

• Demonstrated passion for robotics and mechanical design.
• Design experience with 3D CAD tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Onshape.
• Hands-on ability and willingness to build, assemble, and troubleshoot hardware.
• Strong written communication skills for test plans, reports, and specifications.
• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a similar field.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of FEA or CFD tools.
• Experience designing for manufacturing, including injection molding, castings, extrusions, sheet metal, or weldments.
• Familiarity with ASME drafting standards and GD&T, including Y14.5-2018.
• Experience with systems comprising sensors, actuators, and mechanisms.
