Senior Mechanical Engineer – Simulation & Analysis (Robotics)

What you will do

• Plan and run structural, dynamic, fatigue, and multibody simulations for hardware ranging from individual components to full assemblies.
• Partner with mechanical designers, test engineers, and project leads to turn design questions into analyses and clear recommendations.
• Create and modify CAD parts, assemblies, and drawings, incorporating simulation results into mechanical designs.
• Support rapid prototyping, pilot builds, and production hardware, including DFM/DFA, tolerances, materials, suppliers, build issues, compliance, and safety.
• Validate models against laboratory and field-test data, support test planning, and communicate model confidence and uncertainty.
• Run design studies, parameter sweeps, optimization, and automated simulation workflows; document methods and share reusable models across R&D.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience applying mechanical simulation in product development, ideally with electromechanical or robotic products.
• Hands-on expertise with FEA tools such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, Simcenter, or COMSOL Multiphysics, including static, modal, dynamic, and nonlinear analysis.
• Experience with explicit dynamics or multibody tools such as LS-DYNA, MSC Adams, or Simscape Multibody.
• Strong knowledge of solid mechanics, materials, fatigue, and contact, with sound judgment regarding meshing, boundary conditions, and model fidelity.
• Experience correlating simulation results with physical test data.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX, including building and modifying parts, assemblies, and drawings.
• Experience taking designs to production, including DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, material and process selection, and product compliance and safety standards.
• Ability to clearly explain results and uncertainty to engineers and non-specialists.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Nice to have

• Python or MATLAB scripting for simulation automation and result processing.
• Thermal or CFD experience with tools such as Ansys Fluent, Icepak, Simcenter FloTHERM, or STAR-CCM+.
• Experience with design of experiments, sensitivity analysis, or structural optimization.
• Co-simulation experience such as FMI/FMU or familiarity with electrical, motor, or RF simulation tools.
• Experience with physics-based robotics simulators such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo, synthetic data generation, or reinforcement learning environments.
• Background in robotics, logistics automation, or other high-cycle electromechanical systems.
