Platform Engineer 2 - Data Lake Administrator (AWS)

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; office workplace type. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full time in the United States.

What you will do

• Administer and maintain the enterprise AWS data lake, with Amazon S3 as the primary storage layer.
• Manage governance, permissions, access controls, IAM roles, and Lake Formation policies.
• Administer AWS Glue jobs, crawlers, catalogs, and scheduled workflows, and support Lambda and Step Functions.
• Manage EC2, EKS, SNS integrations, event notifications, and data-processing workloads.
• Monitor system health, executions, alerts, and logs; troubleshoot incidents and resolve operational issues.
• Apply networking and security controls, support data-source and user onboarding, document procedures, and participate in maintenance, audits, change management, and operational reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting AWS data lake platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Amazon S3, AWS Lake Formation, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Amazon EC2, and Amazon SNS.
• Experience managing access control, data permissions, policies, and role-based security.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and firewalls.
• Experience monitoring and supporting production cloud environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills, with the ability to follow procedures and identify operational improvements.
• Effective communication with engineering, security, and business stakeholders.
• Experience supporting containerized workloads or Kubernetes-based platforms, familiarity with data formats and metadata/catalog concepts, and experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications such as AWS SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect.
