Platform Engineer II (AI)

Location: Plano, TX; on-site role. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and operation of scalable, highly available, and secure platform services across AWS and GCP.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code with reusable Terraform modules, automation frameworks, advanced CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, progressive delivery, observability, and SLO management.
• Design and evolve the Internal Developer Platform with self-service capabilities, platform APIs, golden paths, service scaffolding, SDKs, CLIs, and Developer Portal experiences.
• Design and operate enterprise identity services using authentication, authorization, federation, RBAC, and governance standards.
• Build and operate Kafka-based event-streaming platforms and establish standards for schemas, resiliency, and event governance.
• Build AI-powered developer experiences, RAG and agentic workflows, MCP integrations, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, approval workflows, and production monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Software Engineering, including 2+ years building, deploying, or operating AI/LLM-powered solutions.
• Strong software engineering experience designing and building production applications, APIs, services, or developer tooling; proficiency in Python, Go, or equivalent languages.
• Deep expertise with AWS and/or GCP, Kubernetes, container orchestration, cloud-native infrastructure, Terraform, infrastructure automation, advanced CI/CD, and GitOps.
• Hands-on experience with Keycloak, Entra ID, Auth0, or comparable identity platforms, plus OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, JWTs, RBAC, and enterprise identity architectures.
• Production experience operating Kafka or enterprise event-streaming platforms, with knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, partitioning, replication, resiliency, and schema governance.
• Experience designing and deploying RAG solutions, including embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, prompt engineering, and context retrieval.
• Experience building AI agents, tool-calling frameworks, agentic workflows, MCP integrations, and LLM integrations with engineering workflows and enterprise tooling.
• Experience evaluating, monitoring, and improving AI systems in production, including governance, guardrails, validation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience productionizing agentic systems with permissions, auditability, rollback, failure handling, and human approval workflows.
• Experience integrating AI systems with GitHub, Jira, ServiceNow, Confluence, Backstage, and other enterprise engineering platforms in governed production environments.
• Familiarity with LangGraph, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI Agent Framework, or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Experience building automated AI evaluation pipelines, benchmark datasets, regression tests, and continuous quality feedback loops.
• Experience building Backstage-based or equivalent Developer Portals with catalog ownership, software templates, scorecards, and adoption metrics.
• Experience using engineering productivity data to identify platform friction and measure developer experience outcomes.
• Experience supporting regulated environments and security compliance frameworks.
