Applications Scientist (Mass Spectrometry)

Location: Billerica, MA, US; Boston Area, MA, US. The role supports the East Coast of the USA and Canada through remote and in-person activities, requires regular travel to hirify.global Daltonics in Billerica, MA, and includes occasional international travel.

Base salary: USD $88,000–$141,100 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze prospective customer samples, focusing on metabolomics and lipidomics.
• Provide post-sales support, on-site customer training, and application-specific method development for new ESI MS systems.
• Support pre-sales activities through joint sales visits, technical presentations, and in-person instrument demonstrations.
• Author technical documents and develop new applications for hirify.global’s ESI MS product line.
• Prepare application results for posters, technical conferences, and marketing seminars.
• Provide follow-up training and professional support to existing customers.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or BS/MS with several years of experience in mass spectrometry, HPLC, and ESI MS, particularly small-molecule analysis.
• Experience with HPLC using reverse-phase and HILIC methods.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for working with customers and internal personnel at varied skill levels.
• Management and organizational skills for handling multiple in-house and customer-site projects.
• Experience preparing and delivering oral presentations and answering questions professionally.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies for method development.

Nice to have

• Experience with ion mobility.
