Senior Scientist, Biophysics

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid. Applicants must be US and Puerto Rico residents.

Salary: $100,500–$145,166.66 per year.

What you will do

• Design and execute advanced protein biochemistry experiments to characterize vaccine antigen candidates and support antigen selection.
• Investigate antigenic surfaces, conformation, and stability through epitope mapping, structural analysis, and thermostability measurements.
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate complex datasets across multiple projects and deliver scientific presentations aligned with project objectives.
• Collaborate with design, structural biology, immunology, immunogenicity, and antibody discovery teams to integrate structural, biochemical, and biophysical data.
• Apply creative problem-solving across diverse experimental protocols and contribute to the oversight of laboratory facilities and equipment.
• Evaluate scientific literature and contribute to experimental strategy, SOPs, and required documentation.

Requirements

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field, plus at least 1 year of relevant postdoctoral research experience.
• Relevant experience in protein production and characterization or an equivalent discipline.
• Hands-on experience with advanced analytical tools, including HPLC, SEC-MALS, DSF, DSC, BLI, and SPR.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Results-oriented and data-driven approach, experience in fast-moving and agile environments, and a high degree of integrity.

Nice to have

• Experience with protein purification and structural analysis, such as negative-stain EM.
