Modeling Scientist (QSP)

Location: Cambridge, MA; hybrid role. US and Puerto Rico residents only.

Salary: $100,500–$145,166.66 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and implement multiscale computational models of complex diseases using detailed biological mechanistic knowledge.
• Survey scientific literature and identify physiological processes, mechanistic elements, data, parameters, and assumptions for model development.
• Analyze internal preclinical and clinical data to inform modeling activities.
• Contribute to the Translational Disease Modeling group’s computational infrastructure and assess model functionality, efficiency, and validity.
• Analyze simulation results and develop strategies to resolve model performance and accuracy issues.
• Document model development and data analysis, communicate technical material to internal and external audiences, and maintain QSP expertise through education and scientific events.

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s degree in systems pharmacology, biology, computational biology, systems biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• For PhD candidates: at least 1 year of hands-on experience generating disease, mechanistic, multiscale, or QSP models; academic research, internships, and postdoctoral experience are considered.
• For Master’s candidates: at least 4 years of experience generating disease, mechanistic, multiscale, or QSP models in an industry or pharmaceutical setting.

Nice to have

• Productivity in mechanistic or QSP modeling demonstrated through publications.
• Machine learning experience.
• Hands-on mathematical modeling with differential equations and programming using computational tools such as MATLAB, Julia, and R; MATLAB is preferred.
• Knowledge of immuno-oncology or neuroscience.
• Experience in drug discovery or development, particularly quantitative areas such as bioinformatics or pharmacometrics.
