Scientist I (Biopharmaceutical Protein Characterization)

Location: Hybrid position in Louisville, Colorado, USA; remote work available 2 days per week.

Salary: $125,819–$135,000 per year.

What you will do

• Perform formulation, analytical development, and contract development services for monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, viruses, nanoparticles, and peptides.
• Develop liquid and lyophilized protein formulations using biophysical, biochemical, and biopharmaceutical principles.
• Design and execute experimental plans addressing critical research questions and client needs.
• Analyze protein stability and characterization data, manage cost and schedule constraints, and advise management on program status.
• Present development data to clients, act as a program spokesperson, and collaborate productively with client teams.
• Produce publication- and regulatory-ready documentation and train lower-level associates.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of these fields plus 5 years of progressive experience in biopharmaceutical science.
• Demonstrated experience with biophysical and protein characterization techniques, including SV-AUC, CD, DSC, FTIR, HPLC, UV-Vis, and fluorimetry.
• Experience designing and executing complex experiments to meet client needs.
• Experience presenting complex biophysical and biochemical data and results to clients.
• Scientific writing experience, including standard operating procedures, method development reports, method qualification protocols, method qualification reports, and detailed electronic laboratory notebook entries.
• Experience troubleshooting instrumentation and process issues.
• Experience working with instrumentation vendors and internal laboratory operations on procurement, site preparation, repair, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Ability to quantitatively analyze complex data using data analysis software or by developing data analysis methods.
• Experience using SV-AUC, CD, DSC, FTIR, HPLC, UV-Vis, fluorimetry, gravimetric scales, pH meters, desktop centrifuges, and UV spectroscopy.
