Positioning and Controls Software Engineer

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Relocation assistance is available, and the role requires less than 10% travel.

Salary: $97,530.00–$146,290.00 per year.

What you will do

• Develop positioning state estimators and control algorithms for Grade Control products using Simulink models and C++ software.
• Perform simulations to validate model development and create automated software tests.
• Develop software deployed on real-time hardware for earthmoving and paving machines.
• Write, maintain, and archive design documents, models, source code, and other project work products.
• Communicate designs and analysis results to customers, suppliers, software developers, validation engineers, team leaders, quality engineers, and product managers.
• Contribute to new product and process design, maintenance, and improvement.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of process management, process flows, cycle time, waste concepts, bottleneck monitoring, and workflow documentation.
• Working knowledge of accuracy and attention-to-detail practices, including output checks, cross-checking, and checklists.
• Working knowledge of analytical thinking, root-cause analysis, alternative-solution comparison, and data interpretation.
• Working knowledge of effective written and verbal communication, including presentations, reports, feedback, and communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Extensive experience applying problem-solving approaches, organizing resolution efforts, analyzing information, and developing solutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
• Working knowledge of relevant technologies and the ability to develop solutions to technical challenges.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, other business units, customers, and suppliers.

Nice to have

• Experience with sensing technologies such as IMUs, GNSS receivers, laser receivers, or UTS systems.
• Experience with real-time operating systems.
• Experience with Kalman filters.
• Experience developing real-time embedded control systems.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science.
