Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer (GenAI, AWS)

Location: Remote within New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, or Massachusetts; on-site visits to client facilities and the NYC office once per week.

Salary: Base salary $180,000–$200,000 plus bonuses; OTE up to $250,000.

What you will do

• Embed with customers to understand operational constraints, rebuild business functions from first principles, and build the resulting systems.
• Deliver Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations for financial-services and healthcare customers.
• Ship Claude-based GenAI and LLM systems into regulated production environments and own delivery from framing through deployment.
• Work autonomously with senior customer stakeholders, including business-unit leaders and CTOs, from strategy through first deployment.
• Improve hirify.global industry Blueprints and help build tooling and frameworks for the AI delivery practice.

Requirements

• Typically 7+ years of software-building experience, including substantial production-code ownership; hands-on engineering is required.
• Ability to understand an unfamiliar business function quickly and spend time learning the operator’s work before writing code.
• Production experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems, including the challenges after prototyping.
• Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for a non-deterministic system and explaining the measurements and rationale.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to become productive in unfamiliar codebases or languages; proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS, including operational ownership of systems inherited by others.
• Pre-sales experience and credibility with senior stakeholders, including business-unit heads and CTOs.
• Comfort with ambiguity, autonomous ownership, and underspecified engagements.
• Hands-on experience with Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork, including skills, workflows, MCP, integrations, connectors, or custom harnesses.

Nice to have

• Production experience with containers, Kubernetes or ECS, and CI/CD.
• Infrastructure-as-code depth with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI.

Hiring process

• Recruitment interview followed by a 30-minute technical interview with an FDE.
• Live 1.5-hour engineering session: understand a business function and its constraints, propose what to build, and explain how success would be measured.
• Soft-skills interview and offer discussion; AI-generated code is expected, with evaluation focused on AI usage, judgment, and research.
