Forward Deployed AI Engineer, West (AI)

Location: Remote, but candidates must be based in the San Francisco Bay area/PST time zone. Offices are available in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area for employees who wish to work in person.

Salary: $155,000–$190,000 annual salary and variable compensation, plus equity.

Arize AI provides an AI and agent engineering observability and evaluation platform for building, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing AI systems from prototype through production.

What you will do

• Partner with enterprise AI teams to design, implement, and scale production-grade GenAI observability and evaluation programs.
• Lead technical discussions with engineers and senior executives, translating business priorities into scalable technical solutions.
• Build custom integrations, tooling, and workflows that extend the Arize platform for customer-specific requirements.
• Manage multiple concurrent customer engagements from scoping through delivery while maintaining high technical and customer-experience standards.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering to shape implementation strategy and influence product direction.
• Define and scale technical best practices, playbooks, and delivery methodologies for Forward Deployed Engineering.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of hands-on software development experience with strong technical foundations and comfort working in at least two of Python, Java, and TypeScript.
• Experience building MLOps pipelines and/or developing, deploying, and iterating on Generative AI applications in production environments.
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication skills across technical and business audiences, including senior executives and engineering teams.
• Ability to manage multiple client engineering engagements simultaneously and deliver high-quality technical outcomes under demanding timelines.
• Ability to operate in fast-paced startup or consulting environments and navigate diverse client organizations, technical stacks, and evolving priorities.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI and staying current with rapidly evolving AI technologies.
