Software Engineer II, Shipping Solutions

Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States; onsite.

Base salary: $147,000–$183,000 USD annually, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain microservices powering rate visibility and autonomous freight booking.
• Own features end to end, including database schemas, scalable backend APIs, and React-based customer applications.
• Integrate AI models and automated workflows into pricing and booking experiences.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to turn complex business problems into production-ready solutions.
• Build highly available, secure, distributed systems and ship incremental product improvements through CI/CD.
• Maintain quality through code reviews, monitoring, metrics, post-mortems, and peer mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production-grade applications.
• Full-stack capability across databases, backend services using Java or Ruby, and frontend frameworks such as React.
• At least 2 years of design and architecture experience, with familiarity with object-oriented analysis and design patterns.
• Proficiency in Java, Ruby, or TypeScript.
• Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production services on AWS.
• Commitment to simple, well-tested, maintainable code.
• Experience or interest in AI APIs and software using machine learning models to automate user tasks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, React, or AWS.
• Experience in fintech, pricing engines, or booking systems.
• Experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight technology.
• Bias for action and ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to business stakeholders and product managers.
