Data Steward (Data Governance)

Location: Hybrid work from Bucharest, Romania, with work from home or the Bucharest office; business travel to Belgium is required.

What you will do

• Perform data governance activities, including data usage agreements, processing records, impact assessments, key controls, and data privacy classification.
• Onboard data sources into the Data Lake, define business terms in the Information Governance Catalogue, and support data readiness for reporting and data model implementation.
• Execute and monitor data quality requirements for the Belgium Collection organization, define quality rules, and deliver root-cause analyses and solutions.
• Apply data security and retention controls, coordinate data clean-up activities, and maintain data inventories and lineage information.
• Review regulatory touchpoints, support integrity controls and annual testing, and provide data-related support during audits.
• Document data processes, perform analyses, solve end-user issues, and translate business requirements with international data stakeholders.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with data governance activities.
• Hands-on experience gathering requirements and writing functional specifications.
• Hands-on experience with SAS Programming, specifically SAS Enterprise Guide.
• Hands-on experience with business intelligence software for reports, dashboards, charts, and graphs, such as IBM Cognos Analytics or Microsoft Power BI.
• Experience with databases and data warehouses.
• Analytical and conceptual thinking with the ability to understand complex system architectures and data structures.
• Experience with banking products, processes, and services, with a customer-experience mindset.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Availability for business travel to Belgium.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in IT, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or Business.

Nice to have

• Ability to use SQL for medium-complexity reporting and database manipulation queries.
• Experience creating workflow diagrams or conceptual and logical data models.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
• French language skills.
