Software Engineer - Backend (Finance)

Location: Porto, Portugal; hybrid workplace

What you will do

• Design and develop features and solutions for finance services covering transactional accounting, invoicing, reporting, and related documentation.
• Evolve the architecture of finance applications and services across the hirify.global ecosystem.
• Investigate reported issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective strategies with internal stakeholders.
• Monitor, maintain, and support existing services and applications.
• Collaborate with Senior and Principal Engineers and Data, Product, and Security teams on technical roadmaps and solutions.
• Ensure technical feasibility, rigorous testing, code quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in C# and .NET, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, messaging systems, and contract-driven development.
• Knowledge of testing strategies and a strong focus on code quality.
• Experience with NoSQL and/or SQL databases.
• Ability to work autonomously, make technical decisions, solve complex problems, and communicate solutions clearly.
• Interest in financial accounting for platform transactions, financial reporting, and fiscal or operational documentation.
• Proficient written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
• Use of AI agentic workflows in day-to-day development.
