Senior Software Developer (SQL)

What you will do

• Develop and support SQL queries, stored procedures, database models, structures, and processes.
• Lead and support data migration between different generations of applications and assist with data acquisition for online products.
• Help developers tune complex queries, refine schemas, and implement new data products.
• Define database physical structures, functional capabilities, security, backup, and recovery specifications.
• Manage database disaster recovery, automated maintenance plans, backup routines, deployment, performance, and capacity.
• Collaborate with technical, application, operational, development, and product management teams while enforcing database best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of database development experience with significant MS SQL Server experience.
• Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and design stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, and indexes.
• Experience with ETL processing and ETL tools such as SSIS.
• Experience with data migration between different generations of an online product.
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server 2016 or later, including internals and query performance.
• Thorough understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-driven approach, initiative, ability to work under pressure and independently, and ability to collaborate across sites and time zones.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with a scripting language such as Python.
• Cloud-environment experience, particularly AWS.
• Data modelling experience.
• DBA experience with relational database technologies.
