Senior Primary Design Engineer (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

What you will do

• Lead and deliver electrical system, plant, layout, and equipment designs for substations, renewables, battery energy storage, transmission, and distribution projects.
• Drive safety by design and contribute to hazard review meetings.
• Carry out site surveys and coordinate design work with site teams.
• Review and propose concept and base designs from tender information.
• Produce and review general arrangement diagrams, substation layouts, earthing layouts, elevations, CDM drawings, cable routes, containment, single-line diagrams, AC/DC installation drawings, and studies.
• Prepare technical specifications and PD document packs while meeting project requirements, standards, quality targets, KPIs, and delivery timelines.

Requirements

• HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification is required.
• At least 8 years of experience in substation design is required for the Senior title.
• Experience using CAD tools and working in a BIM environment.
• Knowledge of HSE statutes.
• Knowledge of general electrical works standards and regulations.
• Knowledge of standards and regulations for transformers, switchgear, batteries, cabling, earthing, and lighting.

Nice to have

• BSc, BEng, or equivalent qualification.
• IEng or CEng chartership status.
