Backend Software Engineer (Cloud)

Location: San Francisco, United States; 100% telecommuting permitted. The company may hire in countries where it has a legal entity.

Salary: $165,131–$196,225 per year.

What you will do

• Build and ship new backend features and capabilities in a highly scalable, cross-geography distributed environment.
• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance RESTful microservices and backend services.
• Ensure service reliability, security, performance, visibility, error reporting, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product managers, and designers in an open development environment.
• Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, testing, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of related work experience; alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent plus 1 year of related experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in backend application development and architecture.
• At least 1 year of experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance RESTful microservices.
• At least 1 year of experience with object-oriented programming in Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala, or Python.
• At least 1 year of experience with database technologies, including Oracle or Postgres RDBMS, or Elasticsearch or DynamoDB NoSQL databases.
• At least 1 year of experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• At least 1 year of experience with SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models and cloud architecture patterns.
• At least 1 year of experience with software quality, reliability, and performance.
• Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience may be accepted.
