Software Engineering Manager (Hands-On, Frontend)

What you will do

• Spend approximately 80% of the role writing, reviewing, refactoring, testing, and deploying production code with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Design and build sophisticated frontend interfaces for large datasets, including filtering, visualisation, and complex configuration.
• Own features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, debugging, and performance optimisation.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, architectural decisions, and system-design work.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Tech Leads, and Software Engineers to deliver high-quality features, including AI-powered product experiences.
• Spend approximately 20% of the role coaching engineers, conducting 1:1s, providing feedback, supporting development plans, and contributing to performance discussions.

Requirements

• Substantial professional software-engineering experience and technical capability at a strong Senior Engineer level.
• Current hands-on experience writing production code, with coding remaining the majority of the working week.
• Strong frontend development experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building complex, scalable applications, ideally in B2B SaaS, enterprise software, analytics, or data-intensive environments.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting engineers through code reviews, pairing, technical discussions, or structured feedback.
• Interest in taking ownership of 1:1s, career development, and people-management responsibilities.
• Ability to solve complex technical challenges independently while collaborating with others.
• Commitment to product quality, engineering standards, and delivering customer value.
• Fluent English.
