Staff Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in New York City, Boston, or San Francisco; travel up to 50% may be required depending on customer needs.

Annual compensation: $199K–$325K, plus equity. The range reflects US compensation.

What you will do

• Work directly with customers to understand workflows, needs, and problems.
• Turn ambiguous requirements into technical designs and production systems.
• Design, code, test, deploy, and operate solutions across frontend and backend systems.
• Translate real-world usage insights into foundational Lovable platform improvements.
• Own projects end-to-end, from discovery and architecture through shipping and iteration.
• Debug complex issues across application, infrastructure, and AI-system boundaries, while shaping Forward Deployed Engineering standards, rituals, and playbooks.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production software.
• Extensive software engineering skills across the application stack, with a track record of writing maintainable, well-tested code and owning production systems.
• Strong architectural thinking and familiarity with distributed systems.
• Ability to prototype rapidly and turn successful experiments into production-quality solutions.
• Exceptional product intuition and ability to work directly with users.
• Comfort operating with high ambiguity, agency, and end-to-end ownership.
• Proficiency across relevant frontend, backend, cloud, and tooling technologies, including Golang, Rust, React, TypeScript, Cloudflare, GCP, AWS, LLM providers, GitHub Actions, OTEL, Grafana, and Terraform.
• Application must be submitted in English, the company language.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic AI systems or LLMs.
• Experience leading zero-to-one product development.
• Experience in a founding or early-stage startup environment.
