Senior Software Engineer (Loyalty)

What you will do

• Design and build backend services for loyalty earning, redemption, partner integrations, and rewards.
• Maintain accurate, traceable, and reconciled points balances and rewards across markets.
• Integrate with loyalty and payment partners, including card authorisation and fraud-related flows.
• Investigate production failures, identify root causes, and improve reliability and observability.
• Partner with product, design, and mobile engineering to deliver end-to-end features.
• Review code, maintain automated tests, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with a strong backend foundation in Java or a comparable modern language.
• Experience delivering significant projects end-to-end in production.
• Experience designing and building REST and GraphQL APIs and the services behind them.
• Solid SQL and NoSQL skills, including query tuning and performance work.
• Experience integrating third-party partners and making integrations reliable.
• Experience debugging intermittent production issues to root cause and preventing recurrence.
• Proficiency in automated testing and writing testable code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work daily with product and design.
• Fluency with AI development tools and sound judgment about where they help or mislead.

Nice to have

• Background in fintech, payments, or another domain where correctness is measured in cents.
• Understanding of ledgers and payment systems, including how value is recorded, moved, and reconciled.
• Experience with loyalty, rewards, or card-linked offer programs.
• Experience with a serverless AWS stack including Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, and S3, plus event-driven systems and Terraform.
• Interest in growing into full-stack work; mobile experience is not required.
• Experience building automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Interest in restaurants and dining out.
