Principal Solutions Architect (Cybersecurity)

Location: Largely remote, with occasional travel to the Nottingham office and client sites.

Salary: £95,000–£120,000 plus standard benefits.

What you will do

• Develop end-to-end solution architectures and translate customer, operational, business, and security requirements into technical designs.
• Produce high-level designs, solution descriptions, interface specifications, data-flow diagrams, deployment views, integration patterns, and architecture decision records.
• Design secure information exchange across networks, systems, and security domains, including secure gateways, cross-domain solutions, trust boundaries, and policy enforcement points.
• Integrate software, hardware, network, cloud, and data components while supporting interoperability testing, technical validation, and acceptance activities.
• Embed secure-by-design, least-privilege, defence-in-depth, resilience, recoverability, continuity, and availability principles into solution designs.
• Support design reviews, architecture governance, technical assurance, supplier design reviews, and collaboration with customers, engineers, security specialists, product managers, delivery managers, and technology partners.

Requirements

• Active Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
• Experience supporting secure digital solution architecture for customer environments across defence, government, or critical national infrastructure.
• Ability to translate customer, business, operational, and security requirements into coherent technical solutions.
• Ability to produce architecture views, diagrams, specifications, decision records, high-level designs, solution descriptions, interface specifications, data-flow diagrams, deployment views, and integration patterns.
• Knowledge of secure information exchange, cross-domain solutions, secure gateways, security domains, trust boundaries, policy enforcement points, and information-flow controls.
• Experience supporting integration of software, hardware, networks, cloud services, and data components, including interoperability testing and technical validation.
• Understanding of secure-by-design, least-privilege, defence-in-depth, threat, risk, assurance, recoverability, continuity, and operational resilience principles.
• Ability to support technical governance, design reviews, architecture review boards, technical decisions, risk tracking, and supplier or partner design reviews.
