Senior Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 2–3 days per week in the office. Applicants must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Salary: £90,000–£130,000 GBP base salary per year, plus bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded Linux software for hardware-based security appliances using C++, Rust, and Python.
• Develop and support full-stack on-premises web applications on the platform team.
• Debug system-level issues across software and hardware components.
• Lead technical work from requirements and design through implementation, testing, and release.
• Use CI, unit testing, automated testing, and clear risk communication to integrate reliable changes frequently.
• Collaborate with hardware designers and software teams, document technical information, mentor developers, and unblock colleagues.

Requirements

• Typically 5–7 years of software engineering experience, or a demonstrated track record of strong ability and effectiveness.
• Undergraduate degree in computer science or a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics-related field.
• Modern C++17 or later for resource-constrained, security-critical devices.
• Python development for tools, test frameworks, and on-premises web services.
• Experience debugging system-level issues across a complete stack of software components.
• Thorough understanding of modern cryptography and cybersecurity.
• Experience designing CI workflows involving automated and unit testing, GitLab, and Docker.
• Ability to lead technical work from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and release; coordinate with hardware and software teams; mentor developers; and communicate and document requirements, implementations, and specifications clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust.
• Experience with OS hardening or mandatory access control policies such as SELinux.
• Experience using large language models for development, code review, and testing.
• Experience orchestrating multiple agents to complete large development tasks.
