GNC Performance Engineer I (Aerospace)

Hiring range: $106,000–$160,000 USD annually

Company

Develops the Terran R launch vehicle and rocket manufacturing capabilities to deliver customer payloads to orbit and advance space exploration.

What you will do

• Perform engineering design trade analyses and use results to drive design decisions.
• Implement, maintain, and improve software tooling, including core simulation capabilities and peripheral analysis utilities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with key teams across Vehicle Engineering and establish or lead collaboration when needed.
• Support analysis of how Terran R flies from liftoff to landing through modeling, orbital mechanics, software development, and dynamic systems analysis.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Prior experience with extensive cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong coding experience in a modern programming language such as Python, Julia, Rust, or C++.
• Experience communicating complex analysis results, conclusions, and recommendations clearly to support rapid decision-making.
• Familiarity with the architectural design and analysis of launch vehicles or space systems.
• Familiarity with trajectory design and optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience with advanced software development practices such as Docker, continuous integration and continuous deployment, and dependency management.
• Prior experience in a startup or agile development environment.
