Focus on characterizing performance uncertainty, modeling missile excursions, conducting design trade studies, and enhancing digital flight simulation toolsets.
Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States. Onsite role.
Salary: $80,000–$100,000 per year.
Company
Provides air and missile defense threat engineering, combat, radar, and missile systems engineering and analysis for U.S. government and industry customers.
What you will do
Develop intelligence-based analytical models and tools to characterize and analyze ballistic missile, cruise missile, and hypersonic vehicle performance.
Develop aerodynamics, mass properties, propulsion, guidance, navigation, and control inputs and modules.
Characterize missile performance variation and uncertainty, model threat missile excursions, and perform design trade studies.
Generate and evaluate digital trajectory data using 6-DOF simulation tools.
Support development of a high-fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom digital flight simulation environment.
Document and present technical work to internal and external customers, and research techniques to improve modeling toolsets and processes.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
0–5 years of work experience.
Experience or capability in one or more of the following: analysis and modeling of ballistic missile, cruise missile, and/or hypersonic systems; flight dynamics; vehicle performance characterization; propulsion system design; supersonic or hypersonic aerodynamics prediction; guidance, navigation, and control; or flight test data analysis.
Familiarity with MATLAB and Python.
Ability to communicate effectively through written documentation and oral presentations.
Opportunities for technical and leadership growth.
