Senior Frontend Engineer (React)

Location: Europe or US; remote-friendly work environment

Base salary for US-based roles: $142K–$250K annually

What you will do

• Research, build, and maintain accessible React components and APIs based on headless accessibility primitives, including keyboard interaction, focus management, theming, and WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
• Enhance the component library, improve API consistency and developer experience, and enable complex migrations through codemods and semantic versioning.
• Maintain Storybook, unit, interaction E2E, visual regression, and accessibility testing infrastructure, together with a reliable release process.
• Drive adoption through documentation, usage and migration guides, issue intake and triage, and code reviews with product teams.
• Build AI-assisted tooling for Figma-to-code, component scaffolding, and guardrails that keep generated UI on-token, on-pattern, and accessible.

Requirements

• 6+ years of frontend engineering experience, including building or maintaining a production design system used by multiple teams and managing migrations and breaking changes.
• Deep knowledge of React, TypeScript, semantic HTML, and scalable CSS architecture, including SASS, CSS Modules, CSS variables, or CSS-in-JS.
• Experience designing component APIs using atomic design, composition, controlled and uncontrolled patterns, polymorphic patterns, and headless primitives such as React Aria, Ark UI, or Radix.
• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.x and WAI-ARIA, with hands-on implementation and testing of keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader behavior.
• Experience with design-token architecture and tools such as Style Dictionary, Terrazzo, DTCG, or equivalent, plus Figma variables synchronization.
• Ability to treat a design system as a product, write clear documentation, review library consistency, mentor through code review, and measure adoption.
• Fluency in Figma and experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.

Nice to have

• Background in design system or UI/UX platform teams at developer tools, B2B SaaS, or cloud companies.
• Experience in frontend platform roles with a shared UI library and multiple team consumers.
