Designer II (Aerospace and Defense)

Location: Sparks, NV; other location: Folsom, CA. Hybrid or in-office work is required. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

What you will do

• Review, verify, approve, and refine technical drawings, layouts, models, and design documentation.
• Identify and resolve design errors, omissions, and deficiencies while improving design quality and standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to meet specifications and budget constraints.
• Prepare documentation and reports for design reviews and project milestones.
• Use advanced CAD and computer-aided engineering tools to create technical drawings and models.
• Mentor junior designers, participate in design meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Design, Drafting, or a related field; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 2+ years of design or drafting experience within the aerospace and defense industry.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Strong understanding of design principles, drafting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
• Experience with computer-aided engineering tools and technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
• Basic knowledge of parametric design, model-based definition, material and hardware or electrical component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with advanced CAD tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with PLM software such as 3D Experience and related methodologies.
• Exposure to full lifecycle design processes and agile development practices.
• Basic understanding of GD&T principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including proficiency with design and drafting software.
• Ability to travel occasionally as required by project needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.
