Director of Quality Assurance (AI Testing)

Location: Remote, home based; US-based preferred. Work across multiple time zones, and some travel may be required.

Salary: $185,000–$205,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead the QA organization and define a quality strategy for an AI-optimized SDLC supporting multiple product launches and continuous feature delivery.
• Integrate generative and predictive AI into requirements analysis, test-case creation, risk-based coverage, and self-healing test infrastructure.
• Oversee automated testing for a multi-tenant SaaS platform, including tenant isolation, data segregation, configuration-driven test matrices, shared-schema regression risks, and Playwright-based frameworks.
• Own quality planning for parallel release trains, phased and feature-flagged rollouts, release-readiness criteria, defect management, and quality metrics.
• Ensure validation, documentation, traceability, audit evidence, PHI handling, and compliance with HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP/CSV, SOC 2, and applicable GDPR requirements.
• Lead distributed in-house, offshore, and vendor teams; recruit and develop talent; manage vendor partnerships, budgets, strategic roadmaps, and resource forecasts.

Requirements

• 10+ years of QA experience and 5+ years of management experience at Director level or equivalent senior leadership level.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a regulated, compliant healthcare or life sciences SDLC, including HIPAA and 21 CFR Part 11 exposure.
• Direct experience building and leading QA for a multi-tenant SaaS product.
• Demonstrated experience introducing AI-assisted testing into an established organization.
• Experience implementing AI tooling across the SDLC, including AI-assisted test generation and self-healing test runners, with Playwright at scale in CI and modern web, API, contract, and API testing.
• Sound judgment about where AI is and is not appropriate in a validated environment, plus ownership of validation, traceability, and audit evidence.
• Comprehensive understanding of the full SDLC and quality engineering integration into Agile and DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience managing offshore teams, in-house employees, contractors supplied by vendors, QA vendors, and external partners.
• Excellent executive communication skills, including reporting metrics and strategic progress to C-level stakeholders; strong attention to detail and methodical execution.
