Senior Design Manager - Business Banking & Investments (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; or remote within Canada or the United States.

Salary: US employees: $228,700–$285,900 USD base salary; Canadian employees: $216,200–$270,200 CAD base salary. Total rewards also include equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead design quality for business banking and investment experiences, covering visual design, interaction design, complex workflows, typography, composition, spacing, and motion.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to shape the direction of payments, accounts, and treasury products and challenge inherited assumptions.
• Own opportunities from problem discovery through launch and evaluate customer and business outcomes after implementation.
• Provide hands-on design support through sketching, prototyping, and solving difficult interaction and product flows.
• Set scope and sequencing decisions, surface tradeoffs, and help the team deliver high-quality work on time.
• Develop designers through coaching, direct feedback, performance expectations, and shared design vision.

Requirements

• Strong visual and interaction design craft demonstrated through a portfolio of shipped products, including typography, composition, hierarchy, and interaction design.
• Ability to simplify complex workflows, information architecture, and product constraints into clear and intuitive experiences.
• Experience managing designers, coaching them, raising the quality of their work, and holding them accountable to clear expectations.
• Experience setting product vision and helping a team deliver it through practical scope and sequencing decisions, with shipped work and clear customer or business impact.
• Ability to stay close to detailed design work through sketching, prototyping, and solving design problems alongside designers.
• Experience building strong partnerships with Product and Engineering, shaping priorities, resolving constraints, and aligning stakeholders around design decisions.
• Owner mindset: proactively identifying problems and opportunities, making decisions with incomplete information, adapting to changing priorities, and staying close to implementation and outcomes.
• Ability to build conviction without relying on authority, explain product direction clearly, engage disagreements with curiosity, and change direction when a better idea emerges.
