Staff Software Engineer (Go, Traffic Team)

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary: USD $140,400.00–$372,300.00 per year; certain roles may also be eligible for benefits, annual bonus, stock, and sales incentives.

What you will do

• Lead technical decision-making and architecture for the Traffic Team.
• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and performant solutions for rate limiting, routing, and other complex traffic-management problems.
• Maintain and improve the hirify.global Load Balancer and related traffic-management systems.
• Write, review, and maintain production code primarily in Go and Ruby on Rails.
• Mentor engineers in technical and architectural decision-making.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and team meetings.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with proven experience maintaining and delivering production software in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python; equivalent education and experience combinations are also accepted, including an Associate’s Degree with 8+ years, a Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years, a Master’s Degree with 5+ years, or a Doctorate with 3+ years.
• 4+ years building and supporting large, high-traffic applications at scale within platform or infrastructure domains.
• 4+ years supporting and building cloud-native workloads in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• 2+ years maintaining a load balancer with proven experience in abuse-protection mechanisms for DDoS attacks, load shedding, and related areas.

Nice to have

• Experience with HAProxy or another open-source load balancer.
• 2+ years of Golang experience.
• Experience building or maintaining planetary-scale engineering systems.
• Experience working with a remote, distributed team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
