Senior Software Engineer II (Kubernetes/Go)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle. Some travel may be required based on business demand.

Salary: $131,000–$245,000 per year.

What you will do

• Build and evolve the unified deployment control plane for software rollout, upgrades, recovery, and lifecycle operations across large multi-cloud fleets.
• Develop fleet lifecycle orchestration for service placement, maintenance, state transitions, and recovery workflows across Confluent Cloud.
• Design and enhance APIs and abstractions for deployment workflows, service lifecycle management, and fleet-wide operational controls.
• Build integrations with AWS, GCP, and Azure to support end-to-end cloud operations.
• Implement multi-tenancy, security controls, isolation, and safe operational boundaries across deployment and runtime systems.
• Improve observability through monitoring, automated health checks, remediation workflows, and self-healing capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 6+ years of experience delivering scalable software solutions.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including controller development, operator patterns, and multi-cluster architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Go and experience building production-grade backend or platform services.
• Experience with fleet-wide lifecycle management, deployment orchestration, or cloud infrastructure automation.
• Experience running production services in cloud environments, with strong knowledge of reliability, networking, and security fundamentals.
• Ability to independently own significant technical projects and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to work without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master's Degree.
• Experience with multi-tenant platform architectures and security isolation patterns.
• Familiarity with gRPC, Protobuf, and API design for internal platform services.
• Track record of mentorship and technical leadership.
