Senior Software Engineer, Query (Go)

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States

Salary: CAD 156,500–215,000 annual base pay in Canada; USD 165,000–225,000 in the US General range; USD 175,000–245,000 in US Metro Zone 2; USD 185,000–255,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area and other listed metro areas.

What you will do

• Build and harden the ClickHouse-based storage layer for historical and analytical pipeline data.
• Design schemas, indexes, caching, tiered storage, and query optimization for production-scale workloads.
• Design and own ingestion from event streams and durable Temporal workflows without slowing transactional services.
• Expose historical data through domain-level APIs for internal product teams and customers.
• Use Honeycomb, Datadog, and Rollbar to monitor ingestion lag, query latency, and data correctness.
• Lead architecture decisions, data-domain migrations, technical discussions, and improvements from design through production.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating production backend systems serving real users.
• Daily use of AI tools and the ability to discuss what was built with them, how they changed the approach, and where they fall short.
• Hands-on experience building or owning ingestion pipelines, event-driven architectures, or analytical and time-series datastores.
• Understanding of transactional versus analytical storage, including schema design and query tuning for high-volume workloads.
• Strong Go skills, or strong comparable-language experience with willingness to work in Go; experience with interface design, data modeling, service integration, and concurrency.
• Understanding of delivery guarantees, idempotency, backpressure, failure recovery, and appropriate use of framework reliability guarantees.
• Experience leading complex system design and making deliberate technical tradeoffs.
• Ability to raise engineering quality through reviews, mentoring, and direct feedback.

Nice to have

• Experience with ClickHouse or another columnar database.
• Familiarity with React and TypeScript.
