Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote; candidates must be located in England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, or Spain. Travel to customer sites for in-person work may be required, estimated at up to 50%.

Compensation in the United States: €121K–€198K plus equity.

What you will do

• Embed with customer engineering teams to discover needs, design architectures, build prototypes, and ship stable production solutions.
• Deliver technical artifacts including custom MCP servers, hirify.global Sandbox environments, hirify.global Compose definitions, hardened image migrations, and tools that unblock customer progress.
• Integrate hirify.global's AI platform with identity providers, secrets managers, private and air-gapped registries, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.
• Translate security, compliance, platform, data-sovereignty, and user-experience requirements into governed agentic AI adoption plans.
• Partner with Solutions Architecture, Product, Engineering, security, and platform teams during proofs of concept, architecture reviews, threat modeling, escalations, and product feedback cycles.
• Define engagement standards, mentor and lead Forward Deployed Engineers, participate in hiring loops, and serve as the senior technical escalation point.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Professional Services Engineer, or Software Engineer with consulting or technical founder experience.
• Technical leadership across multiple engagements, teams, or domains, including setting delivery standards, defining repeatable patterns, and influencing product direction through field evidence.
• Expert production coding skills in Go, Python, or TypeScript, with experience shipping and operating dependable software and leading technical design reviews.
• Deep hands-on hirify.global expertise covering hirify.globalfiles, multi-stage builds, hirify.global Compose, image and registry operations, container networking and storage, and container security fundamentals.
• Production experience building with LLMs and agents, including tool use, function calling, MCP server and client implementation, prompt and context engineering, and agent-behavior evaluation.
• Working knowledge of software supply chain security, including SBOMs, image signing and attestation, vulnerability management, hardened base images, and secure CI/CD.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems including Okta, Entra ID, LDAP/Active Directory, OIDC, SAML, secrets managers, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to scope and deliver complex work in ambiguous customer environments while balancing scope, speed, and quality.
• Excellent communication with engineers, security and platform teams, and executive stakeholders; ability to lead through influence in a collaborative, low-ego manner.
• Technical mentorship experience, high agency, and comfort working autonomously in distributed remote-first teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Availability to travel to customer sites for in-person work, estimated at up to 50%.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global Hardened Images, hirify.global Scout, MCP Gateway, MCP Toolkit, hirify.global Sandboxes, or hirify.global Model Runner.
• Experience deploying and operating coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or similar tools in team or enterprise settings.
• Experience with air-gapped, regulated, or compliance-driven environments in financial services, healthcare, government, or similar sectors.
• Open source contributions in container, Kubernetes, or MCP ecosystems.
• Experience founding or scaling a Forward Deployed Engineering or Professional Services practice.
