Senior Infrastructure Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time position located at the Long Beach site. Overtime or weekend work may be required to support critical mission milestones.

Salary: $146,000–$208,000 USD per year in California.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain complex, highly available, secure, and cost-optimized systems in AWS, Kubernetes, and Linux/Windows server environments.
• Write infrastructure as code and automations to improve system reliability and maintainability.
• Act as technical lead for infrastructure projects by setting roadmaps, defining milestones and tasks, and coordinating work across team members.
• Provide operational support, respond urgently to incidents, and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Proficiency with public cloud systems, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform, GitOps, Ansible, and/or Puppet.
• Broad IT expertise integrating infrastructure with networking, security, DevOps, and software development.
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends to support critical mission milestones.

Nice to have

• Experience with self-hosted AI systems, AI agents, and Model Context Protocol platforms.
• Experience writing AWS Lambda functions and scripts to automate configuration and recurring tasks.
• Understanding of networking protocols and infrastructure, including BGP, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience working with ITAR-, NIST-, FIPS-, and FedRAMP-compliant systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including explaining technical concepts to non-specialists and gathering requirements from cross-functional partners.
