Staff Software Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Remote; candidates must reside in Canada

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Define the architecture and build a scalable cloud-native data enrichment service for the Artifacts Knowledge Team.
• Design and deliver solutions focused on performance, reliability, observability, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Lead technical design decisions and modernization efforts across engineering teams.
• Prototype and establish reusable patterns, frameworks, tooling, and practices, then scale their adoption through evangelism and mentorship.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers, Technical Leads, Product Managers, Engineering, Product, and UX.
• Mentor and empower senior developers while guiding change management and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 8+ years of professional Software Engineering experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, delivering, and optimizing solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with expertise in scalability, performance, observability, and cost optimization.
• Proficiency in several of C#, ASP.NET Core, Python, PowerShell, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, SQL, and Elasticsearch.
• Depth and breadth across systems design, networking, distributed systems, cloud-scale development and operations, architecture, and performance-optimized algorithms.
• Ability to establish credibility with technical and non-technical audiences and influence teams during change initiatives.
• Ability to learn and teach new technologies, ship pragmatic solutions, and balance technical vision with delivery.
• Excellent mentorship, leadership, communication, documentation, and technical trade-off explanation skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.

Nice to have

• Experience with domain-driven design and modular architecture.
• Understanding of AI systems, including LLM architectures, token generation, and MCP frameworks.
• Enthusiasm for agentic AI and modern SDLC practices using tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex.
