Software Development Engineer - Data Cloud (AI)

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; Flex hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners.

Annual base salary: $148,000–$222,000 USD for the primary location; additional US locations: $123,900–$222,000 USD. The role may also include a bonus or commission plan and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Build and enhance hirify.global's Data Cloud as part of the Data Platform Engineering organization.
• Develop infrastructure for high-performance data processing across large volumes of data.
• Design and implement data management and distributed data processing systems and algorithms.
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, simplicity, and ease of use.
• Develop high-quality software implementations and communicate technical ideas and their value to stakeholders and partners.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience in an object-oriented or functional language.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or a master’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
• Passion for software development and well-defined abstractions.
• Strong interest in data management and distributed data processing systems and algorithms.
• Background in data warehousing, database system internals, and/or distributed systems.
• Experience with distributed data processing engines or data management systems.
• Good grasp of SQL.
• Ability to learn and explore new technical areas, languages, and frameworks.
• Ability to work as part of an engineering team and clearly articulate the value of novel solutions to stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with one or more of Kubernetes, Apache Spark and Spark SQL internals, Apache Iceberg and zero-copy architectures, and Apache Polaris.
