Embedded Software Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Clarksville, Tennessee, United States; hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday and a choice of work location on Fridays; estimated 5% travel.

Annual base salary: $71,100.00–$101,430.00.

What you will do

• Analyze, design, implement, test, and debug real-time embedded software for electronic industrial HVAC controls.
• Develop machine controls for HVAC equipment and integrate equipment with building, campus, and enterprise-wide automation systems.
• Integrate software and hardware and verify system functionality through laboratory testing and virtual simulations.
• Advance software development tools, technologies, and processes.
• Estimate tasks and create schedules for leadership and end customers.
• Manage field-reported defects and follow established product development procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 3–5 years of software development experience.
• 3–5 years of C++ or similar object-oriented software design experience.
• Experience with software analysis, design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.
• UML and object-oriented design experience.
• Knowledge of XML, TCP/IP, MODBUS, BACnet, and LonTalk.
• Familiarity with database applications.
• Familiarity with embedded operating systems, including Linux, and networking.
• Familiarity with software configuration management and defect tracking tools.
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment and systems.
• Systems integration and engineering knowledge.
