Senior Software Engineer - Fullstack (AI)

Location: Porto, Portugal; hybrid schedule requiring 2 days in the office weekly. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Portugal without current or future employer-sponsored visa sponsorship.

Salary: €60,000–€70,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own complex epics and deliver fullstack features, services, and refactors from ticket breakdown through deployment and post-release validation.
• Define timelines, resources, sequencing, risks, and trade-offs while serving as a subject-matter expert for one or more domain areas.
• Design and build highly available, low-latency, autoscalable services, including service boundaries, data models, and APIs.
• Write, review, test, instrument, and maintain production software with unit, integration, and contract tests, logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Participate in on-call rotations, production incident response, postmortems, technical-debt reduction, and legacy-code modernization.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, PMO, and SRE; mentor L1 and L2 engineers and contribute to onboarding, technical talks, and architecture reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, including solid frontend and backend development and ownership of significantly complex epics or features.
• Strong foundational knowledge of modern distributed computing and the ability to reason quantitatively about service performance.
• Experience with a breadth of datastores, including MySQL, NoSQL, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, CI, 12-factor practices, and other software engineering best practices.
• Experience working within a microservice architecture.
• Ability to write optimal code across the stack using at least one backend language: Java, Go, Ruby, or Python, and a modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
• Hands-on proficiency with AI-driven development, including AI coding assistants and agentic workflows such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor, with judgment to maintain code quality.
• Experience mentoring less experienced engineers and collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
