TL;DR
Specialist, Structural Engineer (Aerospace): Evaluating flight-critical solid rocket motor hardware and developing structural analysis-based dispositions for nonconformances with an accent on finite element analysis, production support, and aerospace structures. Focus on modeling metallic, composite, and solid propellant components, making defensible engineering decisions under schedule pressure, and maintaining structural performance and safety requirements.
Location: Sacramento, California, US; onsite production environment. Must be able to obtain a US Secret-level clearance; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.
Salary: $88,500–$164,500 annually in California.
Company
hirify.global develops defense technology and end-to-end solutions across space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains for national security customers.
What you will do
Disposition critical nonconformances on solid rocket motor production hardware as Use-As-Is, Repair, Rework, or Reject in coordination with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.
Perform FEA-based and closed-form structural analyses of dimensional deviations, material anomalies, process escapes, and manufacturing-induced defects in metallic, composite, and solid propellant components.
Build and execute finite element models using ANSYS and ABAQUS, including isotropic, orthotropic, and viscoelastic material definitions with nonlinear and temperature-dependent properties.
Work daily with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering teams on the production floor and in Material Review Board activities.
Interpret CAD models, as-built geometry, and X-ray images; prepare disposition rationales, stress notes, and engineering documentation.
Identify recurring nonconformance trends, support root-cause and process improvements, and develop internal tools, templates, and analysis automation.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant structural engineering experience; or a graduate degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or at least 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain a US Secret-level security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.
Structural analysis experience involving flight-critical aerospace hardware and production or manufacturing-support environments.
Ability to evaluate hardware conditions against design requirements and structural margins and make sound engineering judgments under schedule pressure.
Ability to collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, customers, and cross-disciplinary teams.
Nice to have
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering discipline.
Experience with nonconformance disposition, Material Review Board activities, or production structural engineering for aerospace or defense hardware.
Experience with linear, nonlinear, and dynamic structural analysis for the design, qualification, or production of solid rocket motors.
Proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical; experience with ANSYS MAPDL or Python scripting.
Knowledge of structural instabilities, material nonlinearities, and coupled load environments.
Exposure to the full aerospace solid rocket motor propulsion lifecycle from design through manufacturing, test, and production.
Culture & Benefits
Inclusive, engaging environment focused on professional growth, community commitment, and excellence.
9/80 schedule: 9 workdays every 14 days totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off.
Health and disability insurance, 401(k) matching, flexible spending accounts, and an employee assistance program.
Education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.
Benefits may vary by hire date, schedule type, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
