Company
Space develops in-space transportation vehicles and spacecraft for orbital transport, constellation deployment, precision reentry, and missions beyond Low Earth Orbit.
What you will do
- Own global vehicle finite element models, define model requirements and fidelity, manage load cases, and maintain model accuracy throughout vehicle life cycles.
- Align vehicle models for static structural and dynamic coupled-loads analysis.
- Perform hand calculations, rapid analytical assessments, and high-fidelity finite element analyses for static, dynamic, and environmental loads affecting strength, stiffness, stability, and fatigue.
- Generate margins for metallic and composite structures, including bolted and bonded joints and interfaces.
- Define launch-load derivation, test-load, qualification, acceptance-testing, and structural-verification plans.
- Correlate FEM models with test and flight data and lead root-cause investigations into failures, test anomalies, correlation gaps, and hardware nonconformances.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, stress analysis, structural dynamics, aerospace structures, spacecraft hardware, launch vehicle hardware, mechanical systems, or a related field.
- Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, strength of materials, structural dynamics, vibration, fatigue, bolted joints, load paths, stiffness, and stability.
- Experience building and running finite element models for complex mechanical or aerospace hardware using NASTRAN, FEMAP, or similar tools.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX or similar.
- Experience analyzing static loads, modal response, random vibration, acoustic environments, fatigue, thermal stress, or coupled structural loads.
- Experience calculating margins for metallic and composite structures.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or VBA for analysis and automation.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related field.
- Experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle hardware.
- Experience defining loads, requirements, and verification approaches across the design lifecycle.
- Experience leading or supporting vibration testing and structural qualification campaigns.
- Experience performing trade studies for system and component architecture.
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical insights clearly.
- Experience with vibro-acoustic analysis or testing, generating unit-level vibration specifications, and correlating FEM models with test or flight data.
Culture & Benefits
